Cheek Plastic Surgery

Cheek plastic surgery is used to enhance the look of cheeks

High cheek bones are considered very elegant and beautiful. As people age, their skin becomes less elastic and the muscles are less capable to provide definition to the face.

Excess skin sags, and fat deposits become more visible in the lower area of the face. This gives the face a more round shape, instead the triangular one people desire. Cheek augmentation surgery can help with these dilemmas. This surgery is usually performed on women in the 30s or 40s.Cheek Surgery

The surgery generally takes about one to one and a half hours. Most procedures are done under an oral sedative. The incisions are made directly above the cheek bone, or right below it.

The implant is usually secured into place by stitches. In some cases, the implant may not be secured. This process relies on the body to properly heal and help the implant stay in place. The incisions are closed with stitches. These usually do not dissolve, and must be removed a few days after the surgery.

The patient must be careful not to bite the inside of the mouth, as they are not able to feel this and it may cause some problems. Patients are not allowed to drive themselves home, if they are given an oral sedative, and must be brought home by other means.

Complications can occur with the actual implant. It can be badly welcomed by the body, and heal improperly. This may require additional surgery. Moreover, bleeding and bruising may occur. These may be helped by wearing prescribed gauze bandages.

Cheek implants can look very awful on older individuals. They look very abnormal and awkward when expressing emotions. In fact, others can even tell the outline of the implants. So, older people are not great candidates for these implants.
